Botox and Fillers

How it Works

Botox

Botox can minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions. It's a non-surgical, non-permanent procedure that is minimally invasive. Repeated movement such as squinting, or frowning causes the skin to fold and furrow. This results in the gradual formation of facial lines. Botox is a neuromuscular blocking injectable meaning it stops the transmission of chemicals that tell muscles to move.

The ideal candidate for Botox wants to reduce the look of fine lines in the upper face such as between the brows, the forehead, and around the eyes. Botox does not work on static lines such as wrinkles caused by sagging or loss of volume in the face. This includes the cheeks, neck, and jowl area.

Fillers

As we age, our collagen production declines. This results in our faces hollowing and the loss of facial plumpness. If you're looking to restore volume to the face, you may want to consider dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are soft tissue fillers designed to add volume and fullness to the face. Fillers can last 6 months to 2 years depending on the brand.  Fillers can correct:

  • Filling shallow areas on the face
  • Soften static wrinkles, especially in the lower face
  • Soften recessed scars
  • Plump thinning lips

Dermapen Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

For even faster, more effective results, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) boosts your collagen production, softens fine lines and wrinkles and produces smoother, firmer skin.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) Dermapen treatments have generated a lot of media attention in recent years due to celebrity devotees like Kim Kardashian.  Because Dermapen with platelet rich plasma uses your own blood, the media has dubbed this treatment the Vampire Facelift.  Platelet rich plasma treatments are commonly used in cosmetic applications to improve skin tone and texture, diminish fine lines and wrinkles and boost collagen production.  In sports medicine and orthopedic medicine, PRP injections are used as a conventional medical treatment to heal soft tissue injuries.

Benefits of Dermapen

  • Increases new collagen and elastin production
  • Reduces the appearance of the lines and wrinkles
  • Fades acne scars, stretch marks and surgical scarring
  • Improves skin tone and texture

Dermapen is a more natural and economical approach to anti-aging skin rejuvenation and the treatment of acne scarring and stretch marks.

By using the body’s own healing process, the Dermapen treatment stimulates new collagen by creating very small, controlled wounds in the dermis by “stamping” the skin’s surface with very thin micro needles.

Treatment Information

Our practice utilizes western medicine with proven alternative medical therapies.

To make the experience as comfortable as possible, a topical numbing cream is applied 20 minutes prior to the Dermapen treatment. Once the treatment area is numb, the first topical infusion treatment (containing hyaluronic acid to improve skin hydration and/or phyto-boost to treat hyperpigmentation) is applied.  Using an automated stamp-like motion, the micro needles penetrate the skin in a very controlled, precise manner; creating very small channels deep into the dermis layer of the skin.

Once the micro-channels are created, the second topical infusion treatment is applied. Additional topical skin treatments, such as antioxidant serums or growth factors, may be applied depending on the individual’s skin condition. It is the unique vertical penetration of the micro needle that creates the ideal pathway for deep penetration and absorption of these nutrient-rich serums and anti-aging skin treatments.
Following the Dermapen treatment, the body begins to heal the micro-channels by creating even more new collagen and elastin; resulting in smoother, firmer and more youthful-looking skin. The skin may appear slightly pink, similar to very mild sunburn, for a day or two after the treatment and may feel slightly dry and tight.
For best results, multiple Dermapen treatments are needed, typically four to six treatments, two weeks apart to treat stretch marks on the body or acne scarring on the face. As an anti-aging skin treatment, single treatments every three months are recommended.
